Howard County Welcome Center Exhibit Info

CMPG will be mounting a three month long photographic exhibition starting in October and running through December of 2014. It will be held within the Howard County Welcome Center, located in the old U.S. post office in Ellicott City.

The exhibition will have as its overall theme, Howard County and the 100th birth year of the founder of Columbia, James Wilson Rouse (April 26, 1914 – April 9, 1996).

There will be space for over 40 images based on five sub-themecategories:

1. County Events

2. Parks, Paths & Recreation

3. Country & Urban Living

4. Historical Places & Events

5. Where Maryland Comes Together - Diversity

The display will be mounted on the 11 display modules depicted below. Each of the modules will be used to display two rows of 8" X 12" images matted in CMPG supplied, 11" X 16" white mats. The image format was selected to allow the full use of your 2 by 3 aspect ratio sensors in either portrait or landscape presentation.

It is fully recognized that some of the membership will baulk at having format and presentation limitations placed on their creative efforts. This is a very difficult show to mount that would be made impossible to visually coordinate within a confined and purposeful business environment of the Visitor Center.

Our hope is to make our show a harmonious addition to the Welcome Center contributing to its mission of promoting Howard County to its visitors. We are told that there are up to two thousand visitors a week going through the center. Do the math and that is a potential of 14 weeks X 2,000 = 22,000 potential viewers of your work and, yes you will be allowed to sell your work.

It is not too early to begin executing your imagination and expertise. This an important CMPG exhibition. Submissions for jury selection will begin late August with final selections to be announced in early September. Final dates will be announced as soon as we can negotiate them.

Stay tuned for more information as we progress.
